Breast pumps
Breast pumps are used to express breast milk. The breast
milk can be used later on, to feed a baby her mother’s milk even
when the mother is absent. This is especially useful for mothers that
need to return to work or school after their baby is born.
Many stay-at-home moms also use breast pumps to store up some milk
so that they may be able to leave their baby with a sitter in order
to run errands or for social events. Mothers committed to breastfeeding
understand that breast milk is the very best for their infant and they
often want to ensure that their baby receives breast milk when they
cannot be with them. Breast pumps are also vital for nursing mothers
of multiple babies.
There are several different kinds of breast pumps. Some of these include
manual pumps, single and double breast pumps, electric pumps and hospital
grade pumps. There are several options within each category. A manual
pump is best for occasional use because it requires a pumping action
to created suction. Electric pumps are available in single and double
options, if you don’t have much time to express milk, a double
breast pump is a great option. Hospital-grade pumps are often the most
effective. These can be rented from many hospitals, especially if you
have baby in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
